Description

MINERS AND MEDICINE--WEST VIRGINIA MEMOIRIES" is the memoir of the author, Dr Claude Frazier, who was a Coal Camp Doctor who served in West Virginia coal camps for many years. Here are stories of valiant service in tiny, polluted communities with no nearby hospital or pharmacy, few nurses and nonexistent sanitary facilities. Often the miners' wives and children--many of whom tell their stories here--went hungry in camp housing. Here is a memoir of times past in the West Virginia coal mine camps! Many communities are here--Welch, True, Paint Creek, Monongah, Swandale, Cabib Creek and many others. The only book we know of on Coal Camp medicine.
Book is HARDBACK with DUSTJACKET published in 1992. It is in NEAR MINT CONDITION, measures 5 3/4" x 8 1/2" and contains 131 pages with several photographs throughout.
